Now that Covid-19 is finally starting to ease up (at least in my neck of the woods) I’d like to post my BMB J445sp! It’s a great specimen from Big Mouth Brass; part of their second batch of f tubas after rebranding from Gemeinhardt. It’s got a big lead pipe and bell, blows very well and even, and comes with all valves vented. I’ve valued it as a great all-purpose f tuba for several years, playing it for everything from solos and chamber groups to big orchestral works (despite its size, it plays a wonderful Bydlo).
The horn has a few small dings and other cosmetic imperfections that I tried to capture in the following pictures, but is in otherwise great shape. I got it chem cleaned at Dillon Music at the beginning of the year and only played it for a couple weeks before finalizing the purchase of my new horn (I’ve decided to give rotors a try). It also comes with the original BMB gig bag with some light scuffing here and there and a freshly repaired shoulder strap.
All things considered I’d like $4,500 for the horn and the bag. The horn is located just outside of Hartford, Connecticut. I’m not totally opposed to shipping, but I would rather drive up to a few hours or so to meet a buyer half way.
