I apologize for any inconvenience we caused you, Charlie, but I don't feel this is really necessary. I'll admit I am clueless concerning sales, but this is truly the first time I have purchased an instrument from anyone other than a music store, so you can understand my desire to be overly cautious. You can understand my "paranoia", since I asked about having the instrument sent for a trial run, and you declined since you didn't know me. We both know there are untrustworthy people in the world.

Furthermore, while your original posting is dated early July, I did not express an interest in the instrument until late July, so it has not been almost two months as you claim.

I apologize that my father has been less than civil with you, but it is my understanding that your message to him was rather harsh as well. Also, I don't want his response to reflect on me, since my correspondance with you has been nothing but civil.

If you want to drop the sale, fine, but I feel that flaming me on Tubenet is
vindictive, and I don't feel my ignorance of business should reflect on my character.

Charlie, your complaint would carry more weight if you displayed ALL the emails in BOTH directions, rather than just the climax. Asking people to judge him based upon his response, without seeing what he was responding to, seems quite unfair to me.

It so happens my father retired from oceana isd in good standing. Quite frankly, I don't feel his employment status is the business of anyone on this board.

Charlie, the "Him" of "His" Festive Brass -- does "He" have anything to say about forgiveness?

IB4TL?

Charlie, your email was somewhat insulting. While the response was not warranted, you really should not be suprised.

Regardless of how the transaction went, you should have spelled out your parameters for doing business in nothing less than the most professional manner with all intentions being clear. You email is evidence that you fell short of that. That is what prompted the response.

Ultimately, you still have then instrument and are able to post it for sale again. While there was time lost, I'm sure it wasn't that much in retrospect.

Kudos to the kid for putting together a well thought out reply.

Edit:

Oh, and guess what?
Her inference, I want to make an exchange,,, NO, you want to buy the instrument. ,,,,, I want to sell.
That is an exchange.
Main Entry: 1ex·change
Pronunciation: iks-'chAnj, 'eks-"
Function: noun
Usage: often attributive
Etymology: Middle English exchaunge, from Middle French eschange, from eschangier to exchange, from (assumed) Vulgar Latin excambiare, from Latin ex- + cambiare to exchange -- more at CHANGE
1 : the act of giving or taking one thing in return for another : TRADE <an exchange of prisoners>
2 a : the act or process of substituting one thing for another b : reciprocal giving and receiving
3 : something offered, given, or received in an exchange
4 a : funds payable currently at a distant point either in a foreign currency or in domestic currency b (1) : interchange or conversion of the money of two countries or of current and uncurrent money with allowance for difference in value (2) : EXCHANGE RATE (3) : the amount of the difference in value between two currencies or between values of a particular currency at two places c : instruments (as checks or bills of exchange) presented in a clearinghouse for settlement
5 : a place where things or services are exchanged : as a : an organized market or center for trading in securities or commodities b : a store or shop specializing in merchandise usually of a particular type c : a cooperative store or society d : a central office in which telephone lines are connected to permit communication
- in exchange : as a substitute
Arguing semantics from a 3rd party (not 2nd) is not a great way to do things.

That's too bad you HAD to say that, just like Charlie felt he HAD to start the post........... Ah, what we say through the internet. It's like the confessionals part of a reality TV show.

I just talked to my dad on the phone. It seems they've patched things up, and Mr. Krause even had the goodwill to offer some suggestions as to which horns to buy. For the sake of discretion, let's just close this thread.

Mr. Krause, sorry for any trouble and good luck to you in the future.

Without regard to the ending... I think threads of this nature should not be allowed. This one (and the related threads) should be deleted. There is no good ending to this thread as long as the title remains.
