I’m selling my Miraphone 183-5 Eb tuba. This is the rarer 5 valve version. It looks, sounds, and feels like an f tuba. It is an older era bass horn, so the low range is not as strong as a modern bass tuba. The intonation is workable with the 5th rotor. I performed a challenging feature duet with this horn a little while back and I was able to navigate the intonation. It has a smaller shank mouthpiece receiver. It has something stenciled into the bell about a school district in Philadelphia. I presume this must have once belonged to a school some years ago. I removed the harness strap holders and the thumb ring in order to free up the projection a bit more. It is in good overall shape. There are some dents, but nothing major. The bell has been rolled out before but a good job was done on it and it looks good. The valves and slides all work well. It has been ultra sonic cleaned and serviced in the last year and a half or so. It comes with the original mouthpiece and hard case. This is a solid bass horn for somebody who wants to break into the world of bass tuba with a reliable brand at a lower price. I am asking $1,800 plus shipping. I am located in longview, TX 75604.
