NERTEC this weekend!

Post by BVD Press »

Dear All,

If you happen to be in the northeast part of the US this weekend, please check out NERTEC:

http://www.uscg.mil/band/NERTEC/schedule.html

In addition to all the performances, master classes, etc. Cimarron Music Press will have lots of new music on hand! I have already added most of the new pieces to the website in case you cannot make it.

The new pieces include the Barbara York Tuba Sonata which is now complete and will be premiered at the conference by Adam Crowe. For anyone who participated in the consortium, your copies were sent out Monday morning. You may already have them, but if not they will be there shortly.

Don Harry will be performing a new piece called "Tribute" by Elizabeth Raum as well as two pieces Barbara composed over the last year or two: Elegy for an Angel and 3 Romances.

For the aspiring orchestral tuba player, Tim Olt has put together a new book called "Preparatory Studies for Orchestral Excerpts, vol. 1". In this book, he breaks down excerpts to the bare bones and then builds them back up. It is quite a unique approach and I believe it is a valuable resource when not only learning excerpts, but learning how to practice as well. The excerpts included in volume 1 are:

Lohengrin - Wagner; Ride of the Valkyries - Wagner; Hungarian March - Berlioz; March to the Scaffold - Berlioz; Fountains of Rome - Respighi

In addition to the above, we have added new solos from Tony Zilincik, and transcriptions from Tim Olt, David Werden and Micah Everett. Also look for a bunch of new tuba quartets and brass quintets.

If you can make it, please stop by and say hello! It would be great to put faces to the names on TubeNet!

Wishing all well,
