upcoming tuba stuff in Birmingham, AL

Post by Drbuzzz »

Just letting you all in the Birmingham, AL area know about some good tuba stuff coming up soon:

Oct. 16 (as previously posted by Martin Cochran) - I'll be soloing with the University of Montevallo Wind Ensemble

October 26 and 27 - Alabama Symphony Orchestra performing Symphonie Fantastique (w/ Derek Fenstermacher helping me out)

October 30 - ASO Concertmaster and Friends (yes that's right, a tubist can be friends with a concertmaster) featuring our incredible concertmaster, Daniel Szasz, assistant principal bass, Brian Doyle, and myself in a concert entitled "Baroque with a Twist."

You can check out the ASO website for more info: www.alabamasymphony.org

or contact me at: millerwa@aol.com

Be sure to say "howdy" afterwards if you can make it!

Here's the rep for the Oct. 30 concert:

Leclair Saraband and Tambourin for violin and piano

Vivaldi Sonata No.2 "II Pastor Fido" for tuba and piano (transcribed by Floyd Cooley)

Eccles Sonata for double bass and piano (transcribed by Fred Zimmerman)

J.S. Bach Two-Part Inventions for violin and double bass (transcribed by Frank Proto)

Handel/Halverson Passacaglia for violin and double bass (transcribed by Frank Proto)

PDQ Bach The only piece ever written for violin and tuba (S. 9, 10, big fat hen)

Prof. Teddy Bor Bach at the double for swing trio (violin, tuba, and double bass)

In addition, I'll be playing a Vivaldi duet with bass and the Sarabande from Bach's Partita in a minor for Solo Flute.

Come check it out if you're local.
