TWENTY-FIRST ANNUAL FORT WORTH MERRY TUBACHRISTMAS CONCERT

Over 175 area tuba and euphonium players will present the twenty-first annual Fort Worth Merry TUBACHRISTMAS concert on Wednesday, December 23. The performance will take place outdoors under the canopy at the north end of the Fort Worth Convention Center (intersection of Main and 9th Streets), downtown Fort Worth at 12:00 noon. This year’s guest conductor will be Jeremy Lewis, instructor of tuba and euphonium at West Texas A&M University. Master of ceremonies will be media personality Alex Burton.

The concert, free of charge and open to the public, is presented by the D-FW area chapter of the International Tuba and Euphonium Association (I.T.E.A.) and the Harvey Phillips Foundation. Local sponsorship and assistance is provided by Brook Mays Music Company, Mc Kay Music, and Mr. E’s Music.

TUBACHRISTMAS concerts are performed annually in over 150 cities throughout the United States and Canada. These concerts are presented as a tribute to the late, great William J. Bell who was born on Christmas Day in 1902. “Bill” Bell is recognized by all musicians as the dean of tuba players throughout the world.

Persons of all ages who play the tuba, sousaphone, euphonium, or baritone horn are cordially invited to perform in this concert. Registration is from 9:00-9:45 a.m. and is followed by a music rehearsal from 10:00 a.m. to 11:15 a.m. Registration and rehearsal will take place at the Fort Worth Convention Center. Participants should enter at the north end of the convention center complex, dress in accordance with the prevailing weather conditions, and should bring a music lyre and instrument strap. The music performed will be from CAROLS FOR A MERRY TUBACHRISTMAS used at all official MERRY TUBACHRISTMAS concerts. The books may be purchased at registration for $15.00. (Books may also be purchased in advance at http://www.ssmpub.com" target="_blank. A shipping charge will apply to online purchases).
