Yid Vicious, Madison’s tireless purveyors of klezmer delight, release their 5th and newest CD at a family friendly, free admission event in early December. AMAZE at the Plant Hypnotist, the first recorded output from the band’s “Kid Vicious” oeuvre, throws the beloved klezmer band into a blender with a carnival sideshow, a rusty circus calliope, and even a couple of monsters from under the bed. The result is sure to enliven any slumber party, Hanukkah feast, boat show, or clam bake.

Yid Vicious celebrates with a free CD release party: Overture Center’s Kids in the Rotunda, Saturday, December 8, with shows at 9:30 am, 11 am, and 1 pm. Joining Yid Vicious will be guest vocalists Anna Purnell and Maggie Weiser. Young members of the Wild Rumpus Circus from Mazomanie Movement Arts Center get in on the fun at the Rotunda shows as well.

Every good CD has a great back story, and we leave you with this:

There once was a time when Plant Hypnotists roamed the countryside.

Every traveling carnival had one of these mesmerists of flora. The Plant Hypnotist was a lady or a man, or even an especially perspicacious young child, always clad in the most dazzling of finery. The Plant Hypnotist would ply her persuasive powers to transform the botanical entity from a mere bit of greenery to a plant that thought it was a chicken. Or, at times, a monkey. The plant never moved, never cried out, never reacted in any visible way, but audiences could always tell that the plant was indubitably being hypnotized within its stores of cellulose and down into its very roots, and: They. Were. Amazed.

Often, Plant Hypnotists would experience strange dreams, wherein IT WAS THE PLANTS HYPNOTIZING THEM!

Plant Hypnotists always used the same music to aid in the execution of their otherworldly craft: the music on this very CD! So, listen! And Amaze!

AMAZE at the Plant Hypnotist!
