Delaware State University’s 5th Annual Brass Day featuring the United States Army Band Brass Quintet and jazz trumpeter Kenny Rittenhouse with his quintet.

Schedule of events:
9:00 AM: CONCERT - Delaware State University Student Ensembles and the First State Brass.
10:00 AM: CONCERT - The United States Army Band Brass Quintet.
11:00 AM: CLINIC – Members of the United States Army Band Brass Quintet. BRING YOUR HORNS!
NOON: Break.
1:00 PM: CLINIC - Jazz Clinic with Kenny Rittenhouse.
2:00 PM: Open Brass Reading Session. BRING YOUR HORNS!
4:00 PM: Concert - Kenny Rittenhouse Quintet.

Since its inception in 1972, The U.S. Army Brass Quintet has gained a reputation as one of the most highly respected and sought after groups of its kind. The ensemble has appeared before audiences and dignitaries in 48 states and 14 foreign countries. An element of The U.S. Army Band “Pershing’s Own” in Washington, DC, The U.S. Army Brass Quintet has performed at the White House, presidential inaugurations, and official state ceremonies in the Nation’s Capital. The U.S. Army Brass Quintet has performed on NBC’s “Today Show,” the Food Network’s “Emeril Live,” NPR’s “A Prairie Home Companion,” CBS’s “Sunday Morning,” ABC, Fox, CNN, TNN, and internationally on BBC. The group’s repertoire includes over 500 selections from all eras and genres of classical and popular music, interactive entertainment, video, and works for children’s concerts. The Brass Quintet’s library also includes historic musical selections from the American Civil War which the ensemble enjoys performing on authentic instruments. Trumpeter Kenny Rittenhouse is a member of The Smithsonian Jazz Masterworks Orchestra and The Pittsburgh Jazz Orchestra. Since 1990 Kenny has been a member of The Army Blues Jazz Ensemble. He is Professor of Jazz Trumpet at George Mason University in Fairfax, VA.
