Pokorny Seminar Recital Schedule

The 2013 Pokorny Low Brass Seminar starts Monday. Here is a listing of the recitals. It is still possible to audit by the day or week.

Pokorny Low Brass Seminar at the University of Redlands

Native Californian Gene Pokorny, the tuba player of the Chicago Symphony Orchestra, will once again be presenting a seminar/workshop for low brass players in Redlands, California the week of July 8 -13. He will be joined by his professional trombone colleagues of the Chicago Symphony, the San Francisco Symphony, the Detroit Symphony as well as faculty of Indiana University and the University of Redlands in presenting recitals and master classes in the acoustically superb Memorial Chapel at the University of Redlands. They will also be joined by former bass trombonist of the Los Angeles Philharmonic and popular LA Philharmonic pre-concert lecturer, Jeffrey Reynolds.

Here is a run-down of events:

Monday, July 8 @ 1 PM: Northwestern University Faculty Trombone Quartet in Recital. Performers are members of the Chicago Symphony, San Francisco Symphony, Indiana University and the Detroit Symphony

Monday, July 8 at 6 PM: Tuba Recital by Gene Pokorny, principal tubist of the Chicago Symphony Orchestra.

Tuesday, July 9 @ 6 PM: Bass Trombone Recital by Randall Hawes, bass trombonist of the Detroit Symphony Orchestra.

Wednesday, July 10 @ 6 PM: Tenor Trombone recital by Michael Mulcahy, trombonist of the Chicago Symphony and principal trombonist of the Grand Teton Festival Orchestra.

Thursday, July 11 @ 6 PM: Tenor Trombone recital by Timothy Higgins, principal trombone of the San Francisco Symphony.

Friday, July 12 @ 6 PM: Ensemble Concert by all faculty of the Pokorny Seminar plus former bass trombonist of the Los Angeles Philharmonic, Jeffrey Reynolds.

Friday, July 12 @ 9:30 PM: Compline Chant Concert organized by Jeffrey Reynolds and Jeffrey Rickard.
