Tuba/Euphonium concert at Northwestern (Evanston, IL)

On May 16th at 8:30, Lutkin Hall will host "Heat Signature": a
palendromic cycle of pieces for tuba and euphonium with tape.
The set of works were written by Northwestern University alum
D. Edward Davis. Davis studied at NU, with Amnon Wolman and
is currently pursuing his Masters Degree in composition with
Wolman in New York City. The performers are NU Alums Mark
Carlson (Euphonium Performance and Music Technology '02) and
Jamie Lipton (Euphonium Performance and Music Ed. '03), Paul
Carlson (Mark's brother who graduates in Tuba Performance
from U of I this spring) and NU Prof. of Tuba and Euphonium,
Rex Martin.

This cycle of pieces draws on ambient, hip-hop, funk, and rock to
create a unique sonic enviroment for these low brass instruments.
