The U.S. Army Band is proud to announce the 23rd Annual Tuba-Euphonium Conference. The Conference features concerts, recitals, exhibits, master classes and lectures by leading low brass authorities from around the world.
The Conference will be open on Wednesday, January 25, 2006 and close Saturday, January 28, 2006. Events on all four days are free and open to the public. No tickets or reservations are required for the events. There is no registration fee and any tuba or euphonium player is invited to bring their horn for reading sessions. Military musicians are invited to perform with the Armed Forces Tuba-Euphonium Ensemble.
The Conference will take place at Brucker Hall on historic Fort Myer, Virginia. Fort Myer is located across the Potomac River from Washington, D.C. and is accessible by Interstates 395 and 66 and by U.S. Route 50.

I sat next to Jay Hildebrandt (Friday @ 11:00) in the Delaware Symphony for 20 some years, many of which were made livable by his musicianship and affable personality. Jay is the low brass professor at the University of Delaware, is extremely knowledgable, and really tought me how to be a professional musician by example (despite the way I turned out... )
Instead of talking to your plants, if you yelled at them would they still grow, but only to be troubled and insecure?

Red Lehr - SAPS History, status
Red Lehr: "World's Greatest Sousaphonist"
Title conferred in late 20th century by Eugene Pokorny, Clown Prince (SAPS highest rank). Lehr graciously accepted "official status" in 2003, in conversation with Paul Haugan, SAPS Treasurer and Acting Recording Secretary (SAPS lowest and rankest rank). Lehr is the default victor of "The First Intergalactic Sousaphone Challange and Competition", and longstanding member of "The Jazz Incredibles". Lehr's title as "World's Greatest Sousaphone Artist" remains undisputed at this point in time.

Lexington ITEC
I've been hoping to see Red Lehr again ever since the Lexington ITEC (1992). I don't think he's been to any ITEC or USABTEC since then, has he?
