Hi All - I am excited to announce that the Tubonium4 web site is up and running, and that Jim Self and Mark Jenkins will be our featured guest artists.

Please check out our web site at http://www.freewebs.com/tubonium/index.htm

There, you'll find information regarding the workshop, solo competition, and more, to be held on March 17-18, 2006 at Gustavus Adolphus College in St. Peter, Minnesota. A goal for this year's workshop is that all attendees have a chance to be a part of the action - be sure to bring along your horn!

Thanks,

You can say that again! Paul has put a ton of work into making this year's event super-duper. I'm looking forward to hearing (and playing) some great music! See you there!

A great thanks to Paul Budde for a fantastic event. The hands on nature of this event, the quality of the solists, and everything else was perfect. Jim Self, Mark Jenkins, the Iowa Collegum Tuba/Euphoneum group, and everything else was great.

Thanks Paul. We're already looking forward to next year. Can't wait.

Good morning all - thank you to all of you who came to support what we have going on at Tubonium. It was great to see all of you there!

Tubonium4 was a rousing success. Jim Self shared his wonderful music with us in two outstanding concerts (one classical and one jazz) - what a sweet sound he has! He really opened up some eyes during his master class on the importance of memorizing music and playing by ear (letting the musical ear be your guide), and also did a very fun DVD presentation on his time in the movies. Very fun!

Mark Jenkins put on quite a show in his recital - lyrical and technical music making at its finest. I have some wide-eyed students spending some extra time in practice rooms this week! His master class and presentation on the service bands were both top notch as well.

Collegium Tubum (Univsersity if Iowa Tuba-Euph Ensemble) performed an excellent concert made mostly of arrangements by John Manning's students - bravo!!

Even as I was busy moving from event to event, it was a wonderful treat to be able to hear and see these outstanding guest artists! I hope that you all enjoyed them as much as I did!

Thanks to our Exhibitors at Tubonium4 as well - there were so many people excitedly trying out instruments, rummaging through sheet music, and picking up supplies. Thanks Yamaha, Woodwind and Brasswind, Pepper Music, the Music Mart, and Beautidel Music Press for adding so much to our event! I hope you'll be back for more next year!

Special congratulations to Jamie Lipton (euphonium) and Daniel Clouse (tuba), winners of the Tubonium4 Solo Competition. They beat out some outstanding competition to make it to the top! Congrats to both of you and to all of the outstanding competitors in this year's competition!

I'm looking forward to Tubonium5!!!!

In music,

Paul
