"Tubas on a Plain" Recital- March 21st

Post by djwesp »

I have a recital coming up. Will be playing the VW and a piece by Gerald Lloyd as well as some other (hopefully  ) tasty treats of the standard tuba repetoire.

If you show up, and say you read this on tubenet I'll buy you dinner after the performance!

Starts at 7:30 in the Fine Arts Building at The University of Nebraska-Kearney (formerly Kearney State College). This is the first Tuba Recital (non-faculty) in the history of the school (crazy considering it is a college of 7,000+ and has existed for a century).

Bob Mitchell is doing great things here and the new studio is already taking shape.

I'm in the same situation here and Ohio-Wesleyan, although we are quite a bit smaller. It's quite a bit to far for me to make it, (and I'd drive pretty far for a free dinner), but good for you, and I hope it all goes well.

EDIT: Is that an intentional "Snakes on a Plane" reference? It took me a minute to get it, but I definitely had a good chuckle when I did.

It is in fact a reference to the movie. The posters, recital notes, and general paraphenalia, are based loosely on the that theme. I got the idea, but not the artwork (didn't want to steal), from a fellow poster here on tubenet who made tubas on a plane shirts.

Hope all goes well for you at Ohio-Wesleyan. Schools building low brass studios are a fun thing to be a part of.

I can edit that text on it for yah if you want to use it

You sir are correct.

Then I realized it actually was Tubas on a plane up here. Well, Tubas on the High Plains. Either way, thanks for the great idea!

If it wouldn't be much trouble? I'd happily use it!

Time for a PhotoShop guru to incarnate the High Plains Tuba.
