Brass Sect was formed in September 2006 to present great music written
specifically for brass quintet. The group is made up of Betty Rines
(trumpet) and John Boden (horn) of the Portland Brass; Matt Ara (trumpet)
and Brian L. Diehl (trombone) of the Innovata Brass; and Michael S. Milnarik
(tuba) of the Innovata Brass and formerly of the Portland Brass. Boden,
Rines, Milnarik and Diehl are all faculty members at the University of
Southern Maine School of Music.
