Music by John Stevens: A lecture recital

Post by Tony Halloin »

If you would like to learn something about music by John Stevens, feel free to stop in to the University of Maryland School of Music for a FREE lecture recital on some of his music. This event will start at 8:00pm on Monday, April 14th in the Choral rehearsal room (not my first choice!).

Music to be presented and dissected:

Journey Concerto for Contrabass Tuba and Orchestra
Triumph of the Demon Gods
Triangles

Once those are completed the lecture will move to the Dogfish Head Alehouse in Falls Church, where the new topic will be "Tuba playing and Fine beers."

On a side note, is there a recording of the Journey Concerto somewhere out there? I read about it in an old ITEA journal recently, and I am very interested to hear what it sounds like. Perhaps someone can be duked into performing it on the next solo CC CD.
