Felix Burghelea has his master's tuba recital at 6:30pm and Heather McDown has her senior euphonium recital at 8. Kendrick's recital is in the Concert Hall and the rest are all in the Recital Hall. I'm sure this will be a fantastic performance.

Just thought I'd be a euphonium nerd here for a second about the title for the Alfven piece.

According to Sverre Olsrud, the title translated as "Herdsmaiden's Dance", not "Herbsmaidens Dance"

A few of us heard what was probably the first performance of this piece on euph in England about 10 years ago or so, played amazingly by Sverre. He told us at that time that it was the "Herdmaidens dance", but with a bit of Scandinavian inflection in his English, this could easily be heard as "herbsmaidens", which seems to have persisted. Of course, herdmaidens (you know, like the lady watching over the herd) makes a bit more sense since it would be roughly analogous to the idea of a shepherdess, whereas a maiden of herbs, on the other hand, raises all sorts of interesting questions.

Anyway, if you are in the area, or even if you aren't, go hear the song of the dancing maidens, and the other great stuff Chris will play!
