Tubonium7 Solo Competition (April 2-4, 2009)
Posted: Sun Nov 16, 2008 3:41 pm
Greetings Friends of Tubonium!
I want to let you know that I have posted information about the Tubonium7 solo competition (as well as many other updates!) on the Tubonium website today. Please visit http://www.houseoflowaire.com" target="_blank for all of the information.
Please note two points about the Solo Competition:
First, the due date for registration materials is POSTMARKED BY JANUARY 3, 2009.
Second, we are going to try something new this year: SmartMusic accompaniment will be used for accompanying the Preliminary Round. SmartMusic is available for purchase ($30.00 for one year) at http://www.smartmusic.com" target="_blank. I would suspect that many of you have access to this software through your University or local schools as well. While SmartMusic is not the same as having a live pianist, it does serve to help with accuracy of timing, tempo, and pitch. During the competition, we are planning that sounds from SmartMusic will be broadcast via a stereo system as well as through headphones for the performers.
As usual, a staff accompanist will be provided for the Final Round.
I hope that you'll welcome this opportunity to try something new! After the event, we'll assess the strengths and weaknesses as we consider our options for 2010.
I hope to see you at Tubonium7 on April 2-4, 2009 - it should be a grand event!
In music,
Paul Budde

Euphonium and Tuba Instructor
