The second gathering of Mutant Sousaphones, Gothic Baritones, Tap Dancing Trombones and all sorts of other "Street Brass Band" blowers (also featuring drums, gongs, and many other misc. musicians and performers) will be happening in Seattle the weekend of April 10th -12th in various locations. Last year was a real blast and this year looks to be even bigger and better. There will be bands from the East Coast, Midwest, and all up and down the West Coast (including Canada.)

More information can be found at http://honkfestwest.com/index.html Lots of different styles of music will be heard, but it is not a "stuffy or formal" kind of event. (The event is similar to the HonkFest held in the Boston area in recent Octobers - many of the same groups will be there.)

Thanks for the tip - I don't know if a group like SF Renegades would fit in with the budget (very tiny) or the general performance image of this kind of festival.

However, I am not the "You Folks" who would make that decision... How does SFR do at playing in dive bars?

There is a bit more info on upcoming public performances on the http://honkfestwest.com site.

There also will be a "Pick-Up Band" rehearsal on Saturday afternoon and performance on Sunday afternoon. If you want more info about this, please send me a PM before Thursday morning. Low Brass players are especially encouraged to attend and perform - it should be fun, rain or shine!
