Greeting all. The West Texas A&M University Symphonic band will begin its tour to the College Band Directors National Association convention in Austin this coming Tuesday. We've been working very hard on the program and have enjoyed working up two pieces written specifically for this tour. These two pieces are Apollos Fire by Glen Cortese featuring the world acclaimed Dr. Brad Garner on Flute, and Donald Grantham's first symphony for band commissioned and written for the WT band. Both are wonderful pieces that I can see becoming a standard part of todays band repertoire. Our Full program is as follows.

The Power of Rome and the Christian Heart (1947)
Percy Aldridge Grainger

Geschwindmarsch by Beethoven
Paraphrase from Symphonia Serena (1946)
Paul Hindemith

Apollo's Fire (2008)
Glen Cortese
Gary Garner, conductor
Bradley Garner, flute soloist
(Premiere performance)

Circus Polka (1942)
Igor Stravinsky

Symphony for Winds and Percussion (2009)
Donald Grantham
Premiere performance

We will be performing at several high schools along the way, and will play at 2:30 PM at Bates Hall on UT campus this coming thursday. Hope some people can make it. :D If you would like to know the high schools and times, please message me and i'll get that information to you.
