Seattle: Wagner for low brass at UW, Aug. 5
Posted: Fri Jul 24, 2009 12:07 am
Below is a forward of an email from Steve Fissel, SSO bass bone. Admission is free, will occur in Brechemin Auditorium at UW School of Music at 7:30 p.m. on Wed, Aug. 5.
Dear Low Brass Enthusiast:
In years past when we have done the Ring here in Seattle I have
organized a presentation of excerpts for low brass taken from the
scores of Wagner's great four part music drama. This year I am again
making such a presentation with some of the outstanding students who
have been recently been studying with me.
In this concert you will hear many well-known passages (and maybe some
not so well-known!) plus discussion of Wagner's leitmotifs and use of
the instruments (what's a steerhorn?), a demonstration of the contra-
bass trombone (in F), and some Q & A.
Hope to see you there!
Hojotoho!,
Steve
