Posted: Wed Nov 04, 2009 7:26 pm
The Kansas City Symphony will again host TubaChristmas this year, the date is Friday, December 4, 2009. After last year's successful event, some commented that teachers enjoy bringing students on a Friday, so we made that happen.
Registration Fee is just $5 per participant. All tuba and euphonium/baritone players are welcome for this annual holiday tradition. All activities will be held at the Lyric Theatre, 11th and Central, Kansas City, MO 64105.
Conductor for this year's event is none other than Scott Watson, esteemed Professor of Tuba at the University of Kansas, guest conducting is Kansas City Symphony Associate Conductor, Steven Jarvi.
Registration begins at 9:30 a.m. and rehearsal begins promptly at 10:30 a.m. This year's performance will begin at Noon and will conclude no later than 1 p.m. The concert is FREE and open to the public.
Music and TubaChristmas merchandise will be available for purchase on site. You can download the TubaChristmas registration form via the KCS Website at http://www.kcsymphony.org/ConcertCalend ... AIBASDSNAS You can also find a parking map and other information on the site.
IF YOU WANT A MUSIC STAND, please bring your own folding stand.
For teachers bringing groups: If you will be traveling by school bus, please send an email to Steven C. Murray, Kansas City Symphony's Education Manager (smurray@kcsymphony.org" target="_blank" target="_blank), by Friday, November 20 with the number of participants and buses to ensure we can accommodate your tuba-busing needs.
Please help spread the word to tuba and euphonium players in the Kansas City region, and to students and band and orchestra directors you know. We'd love to have an even larger crowd this year!
Looking forward to seeing you there!
