Spencer Brown Performs Csardas Live on the Radio on Feb. 20

Hey All,

Just plugging a concert this Saturday that will be live on the radio and also streamed online. Check it out if you get a chance.


This Saturday, February 20th, Chicago area tubist Spencer Brown will perform Monti’s “Csardas” live with the Wind Ensemble of the Merit School of Music on WFMT 98.7 fm. This broadcast is part of WFMT’s Introductions and will air live from Merit’s Gottleib Hall in Chicago’s West Loop beginning at 10:55AM Central Time.

Chicago area listeners can tune into FM 98.7 to listen to the concert. About the soloist:
Spencer Brown is an 18 year old high school senior from Oak Park, IL. Since beginning his tuba studies in the fifth grade, Spencer has performed across the US, Europe, and South America. An experienced orchestral musician, Spencer has performed under the batons of conductors including Gustavo Dudamel and Keith Lockhart, and alongside notable performers that include Rachel Barton Pine and the Chicago Children’s Choir. Spencer has also been a principal member of the Chicago Youth Symphony Orchestra and their brass quintet since 2008, accompanying the latter group in their success at the Fischoff National Chamber Competition in 2009 and as second prize winners at the Rembrandt Chamber Competition in 2010. Currently, Spencer is a student of Richard Armandi (Chicago area freelance) and Floyd Cooley (San Francisco Symphony; retired).

The Wind Ensemble, conducted by Bryan Polacek, is part of Merit’s flagship program; the Tuition-Free Conservatory. Scott Tegge is the tuba instructor for the Conservatory’s tuba and euphonium studio.
