Hey everybody, this event is now officially cancelled. We will try again next summer...

Eastman Summer Tuba/Euphonium Institute
July 31-August 1/Saturday-Sunday, 10 a.m. - 9 p.m.
Room: Ciminelli Lounge, Student Living Center
Don Harry, Craig Sutherland, directors
An overall introduction to Tuba and Euphonium as it relates to college and performance preparation in all the basic aspects. High school and college students will be divided according to similar abilities. Topics to be addressed are:
Breathing
Warming up
Intonation as it relates to ensemble and solos
A careful discussion about equipment
Rhythm and group time
Tuba-Euphonium ensemble
Introduction to the basic literature, solos, quintets, bands and orchestras
A basic approach to auditions and performing
A recital which implements all the above-mentioned aspects
Group lessons and a faculty performance
Participants should have a solo piece or etude prepared for possible master class performance/recital performance. This will be a very busy two days and will leave the student with a clear understanding of how to approach the requirements of performance on our instruments.
Faculty Performance: Saturday, July 31 at 7:30 p.m. in Ciminelli Lounge
Participant Performance: Sunday, August 1 at 7:30 p.m. in Ciminelli Lounge
Professional Development Hours: 16
Tuition:
$1,100/1 credit CRN 18302
$350/noncredit CRN 18298
