"Euphonium vs. Baritone" Sunday 7 Nov Kalamazoo
Posted: Fri Nov 05, 2004 4:27 am
Those who made it to the final concert of Western Michigan University's TUBAfest last weekend caught an announcement about this, but I wanted to let everyone know. Laura Ketchum, senior euph at WMU, has taken her pet peeve--people calling her instrument a "baritone"--and turned it into an honors thesis. She'll be performing works both on euphonium and on baritone, and discussing the differences as well as the historical development of the instruments. If you're in the Kalamazoo area on Sunday, I'd highly recommend you come; the girl can PLAY. She also has an excellent thesis that is well thought out and presented. I know it's last minute, but it deserves some notice. The info is below; hope to see you there!
