Hi everyone.

On Sunday Sept. 11, Roger Lewis, the North American representative for Miraphone, is bringing the lineup of Miraphone's professional level tubas (all keys) and euphoniums to Appalachian State University in Boone, NC for people to play. This is not a sales visit nor is it a clinic. It is an informal opportunity to play around on instruments and meet other students and professionals in our area.

We will begin at noon on that Sunday and have the instruments available until 5:00pm in our rehearsal hall, room 119. Our performing halls will also be available for people to use that afternoon. Parking is free on Sundays and directions can be found: http://maps.appstate.edu" target="_blank
The Broyhill Music Center is located at 813 Rivers St. Boone, NC 28608, if you prefer to use GPS.

I've been wanting to try the Petrushka for some time. Do you think he'll have one there?

I think it's very cool, yet very unfortunate that this is out in the middle of nowhere.

The "middle of nowhere" is relative to how close to nowhere one is.

Typical New Yorker there, Bort! Lived and worked there for a few years myself...

I suppose that's why it costs $8 to cross the GWB into the city, but it is free to leave.

Yeah yeah... Really though, I'm from Baltimore, and have only lived up here a few years.

I know there are some cities near Boone, NC, but it's still not exactly central to very many people. Although, for that same reason, it's exceedingly cool for the people who *can* get there, to have a cool event in their piece of Appalachia! Heh, maybe I'm just jealous.

Actually, Appalacian State University is the first stop of many on this road trip. I will be in Greensboro with Dr. Askew on the 12th and in Athens, Georgia on the 14th. Still working on some other locations, possibly Atlanta, Georgia and in Ohio in Cincinatti, Dayton and Toledo.

If you have suggestions for a location where I can set up an event for the school and community, please let me know.

Any chance for a North Dakota Visit? We have a small studio at NDSU, but I would be willing to promote the heck out of this thing regionally.

If Roger doesn't have a Petrushka, you can try mine. I fully expect him to have Miraphone's full lineup.
We are very much not in the middle of nowhere, in fact. Just an hour from Winston Salem and 2 hours from Charlotte.
I hope to see a number of Tubenetters from NC and TN there!

We had a great time at Ap State and Chris was a marvelous host. He has a great bunch of students and everyone got plenty of time with the horns. And if Boon, NC is the middle of nowhere, then I would settle for that anytime. What a beautiful place!

On Monday I had a great time in Greensboro with Dr. Askew's crew. They also had a lot of fun with the horns and it was a great day.

Today I'm in Athens, Georgia where David Zerkel's students will get to have their way with the instruments. I'm looking forward to meeting his students and spending a day with them.

Next stop may be Chattanooga on Friday. Still waiting to confirm. Then on to Knoxville.
