The Greenwich Village Orchestra, music director Barbara Yahr, will be performing a family concert on 12/11. We will be performing portions of the following works:

Rodeo - Copeland
Peter Gynt Suite - Grieg
Var. on Twinkle Little Star - Mozart (arr. Wernick)
Nutckracker Suite - Tchaikovsky
Picture at an Exhibition - Mussorgsky (arr. Ravel)
Sleighride - Anderson

Admission is per family (& friends), $10
Washington Irving Auditorium

It is a great pleasure to work with Barbara, who was an assistant to Lorin Maazel during his time with the Pittsburgh Symphony. I plan on recording this concert and I will link it here afterwards. I am just bringing one tuba this time. Very relieved! (the 163 this time, I am curious how big a difference there will be when compared with the 164 on pictures from Nov 20th).

If you have the time to stop by, let me know, I'd love to thank you for coming in person, and possibly grab some eggnog after!

Here is a link to the concert. It was a fun concert. There is some children's activities in the Tchaik, so be ready for some stomping, tip-toeing, tamborine, and clapping in various things!

There is tuba in almost everything. I want to give a shout out to my colleague Warren Wernick who arranged great parts for Jingle Bells and Twinkle Little Star! It was a great premiere of these works.

Thanks Bort. It was a fun concert to play and a rare opportunity to perform the same work back to back with the same orchestra in the same hall with two different horns. As I hear it compared to the previous recording - the 164 is not as loud, has a more uniform attack, but a thicker foundation. The 163 worked well, slightly less in tune, a big but more direct sound. Each horn has its own challenges, I know I am not achieving their full potential, but I do the best with what time I can find to work with them - unfortunately there is still some negotiation - finicky mistresses!
