Hello all,

Just wanted to send out a quick note that my first Doctoral tuba recital at UGA will be held this Thursday, February 2nd, 2012, at 6PM in the Ramsey Concert Hall at the University of Georgia's Performing Arts Center. I'm really looking forward to presenting this program, as it is full of really good and challenging music:

Eccles, Sonata in G-minor
Hindemith, Sonata for Tuba and Piano
Gillingham, Diversive Elements for Euphonium, Tuba and Piano
Woodward, Tuba Concerto
Szentpali, Variations on a Hungarian Children's Song

Unfortunately I was unable to set up live streaming for this recital, but I will have the recital recorded, so be watching for those on my Youtube or Facebook pages. Those in the Athens or Atlanta area are welcomed to attend, as I said it should be really good show (due in no small part to my awesome pianist Anatoly who is nailing the hell out of the Hindemith and everything else) and as a bonus a colleague of mine at UGA (Simon Wildman) is performing the Bozza Concertino with the UGA orchestra later that night!

Best,

David McLemore

Hey Dave!!

Kick it's ***, dude. I wish I could be there to support you. Someday, my man. I know you'll knock it dead. Let us know when you post those videos. I'd love to see them!!!

Break a leg, friend.

Thanks for the kind words Andy! Recital is done, and it went extremely well, a few minor blips but mostly REALLY good stuff. Unfortunately there is little in the way of video, other than movement 1 of the Gillingham Diversive Elements, but I have a good quality sound recording of the recital, so at the very least I can post "videos" of the audio.

Glad it went well! I can say that the compliments about Anatoly are NOT over the top. I've had the chance to listen to recordings of Anatoly accompanying tuba solos on numerous occasions and have greatly enjoyed his playing throughout (and the tuba playing!).

Since there is no video from the recital, maybe this would be a good opportunity to put together an interpretive dance to put with the music??

Can't wait to hear it! A lot of great music being played by a great tuba player!
