Russian Symphonies — Sunday, May 20, 2012
3pm in Washington Irving Auditorium
Barbara Yahr, conductor
Yaniv Segal, guest conductor*
Shostakovich — Symphony No. 9*
Tchaikovsky — Symphony No. 5
This is going to be a wonderful concert. Our 1st horn player (who regularly subs in Charlotte Symphony) sounds absolutely beautiful on the horn solo in Tchaik 5. The guest conductor Yaniv is wonderful to work with, and it is great to be performing under Barbara's baton again.
For this concert I was debating over the 164/163, but after last rehearsal, its going to be the big boy all the way. I almost prefer the 163 for the Shosty, but I am not lugging two horns. Two mouthpieces, yes!
If anyone in this community can make it, stop in and say hi afterwards. There is a nice little reception after all of the concerts.
