David Kirk in Grand Rapids

David Kirk, Principal Tubist with the Houston Symphony and Associate Professor of Tuba of the Shepherd School of Music at Rice University will be on the campus of Grand Valley State University January 27th – January 29th. Schedule is as follows:

Thursday Jan. 27th, 8:00 pm – Recital featuring the works of G. Jacob, Mozart, Gorecki, Penderecki, and Stevens to be held in the Sherman Van Solkema Recital Hall. Performers include David Kirk, Jacob Cameron (tuba), Michael Atkinson (horn) and Jeremy Moeller (trombone).

Friday Jan. 28th, 12:00 noon – A lecture covering various aspects of musicianship and practice techniques followed by class featuring student chamber ensembles. This event will also be held in the Sherman Van Solkema Recital Hall.

Friday Jan. 28th, 6:00 pm – Tuba/euphonium class featuring GVSU students held in room 1515.

All events are free and will be held in the Performing Arts Center on the Allendale Campus of Grand Valley State University. David will also be available for a limited number of lessons on Saturday January 29th. For more information contact me, by e-mail, cameroja@gvsu.edu.
