High School/College Performance Opportunities-Metro Atlanta

Post by musica5341 »

Happy New Year!! This year should be a great one; please check out the following performance opportunities for metro Atlanta students in 2014:

Dear Brass Professional-

The ASO Education Dept. at long last is starting a new Brass Ensemble, the Atlanta Symphony Community Brass Ensemble, modeled after the successful group I conducted for many years at Emory. The players who would most benefit from this group are advanced high school and college students as well as adults who would like an outlet for keeping their brass chops up.

The first year will be divided into two sections, the first one being Sunday nights from 7-c.9 PM on January 26, Feb. 9, March, 2, 9, 23 and 30- 6 sessions. Since the ASO has some expenses related to this adventure, they are charging $50 per 6-week session (only $8.33/week- cheap!) . The second session goes through May. There is limited scholarship money available for outstanding students for whom the $50 would be a hardship. Most rehearsals will be on the greatly-improved Symphony Hall stage.

The music will include some of the music we worked on while at Emory, as well as a lot of newer music. There will be guest artists from the Atlanta brass world, and a concert or two are possible.

So, please pass this on to your best students, friends who are amateur or occasional brass players, other teachers, enemies, or anyone else you think may be interested.

There is more info from the ASO, Including how to sign up at this link:

Accomplished players of all brass instruments are needed and welcome. I'd like to do some really big works. If you or anyone you recommend have any questions, I'm available by email at mooretuba@bellsouth.net" target="_blank" target="_blank.

Thanks for your help!
