Chicago Brass Festival

Post by Steve Marcus »

At the Chicago Brass Festival on March 14 and 15, performances by Rebirth Brass Band, Wycliff Gordon, Rex Richardson, V3NTO Brass Trio, and Chicago Metropolitan Brass Ensemble will take place.

Euphonium soloist from the Netherlands, Robbert Vos, will conduct a Master Class and perform with Chicago Brass Band.

Are any TubeNetters planning to attend? Any tuba/euphonium-related vendors planning to have a display among the exhibits?

For those who are interested, Chicago Brass Band's program (on Saturday March 15 at 4:00p) is as follows:

- Olympic Fanfare and Theme (1984) [John Williams/Forster and Dye]
- Euphonium Concerto (1972) [Joseph Horovitz]
- Symphony in Two Movements (2012) [Edward Gregson]
- Solitary Prayer (2014) [Marco Putz]
- Devil's Dance (2012) [Alexander Comitas]
- Harlequin (1984) [Bruce Broughton]

We are super excited about Robbert Vos playing with us. All tickets to be purchased through the NEIU box office this year - General Admission $10 (which also covers all Saturday events). Check out the CBF website for ticket packages.

Earlier on Saturday, Robbert is conducting a masterclass at 11:00a for all baritone, euphonium, and tuba enthusiasts. Please spread the word to your students and tell them to bring their instrument!
