Hello tubenet,
I would like to let everyone know about a free, one-day, performance-based workshop at Northern Arizona University in Flagstaff, Arizona.
On Saturday, April 19 2014, from 11:30am-7:00pm, the Elden Brass Quintet will perform, give masterclasses on trumpet, horn, trombone, tuba/euphonium and body mapping, rehearse trumpet ensemble, horn choir, trombone choir, tuba/euphonium ensemble and a very full brass choir. The day will begin by a 30-minute recital by the EBQ, and end with a 5pm Brass Showcase concert, in which all visiting Brass Bash participants will perform along side NAU music students and faculty.
KFS Publishing and Mountain Peak Music will have a wide variety of discounted brass sheet music available for anyone to browse from 10:00am up to the 11:30am Elden Brass Quintet opening recital.
This annual event was originally designed for high-school students, but we have had middle school and adult students attend with great success and satisfaction. I hope to see more adult and young students this year.
Last year was a great success with about 45 guest participants, and a particularly large tuba/euphonium contingent. We hope to have even more fun and musical growth this year!
The Elden Brass Quintet is made up of the NAU brass faculty and the principal trumpet of the Flagstaff Symphony Orchestra:
Dr. Stephen Dunn and Ms. Cindy Gould, trumpet
Ms. Nancy Sullivan, horn
Prof. David Vining, trombone, euphonium and body mapping expert
Dr. Alexander Lapins, tuba, euphonium
I am the contact person for this event, so feel free to email me at my work email: Alexander.Lapins@nau.edu" target="_blank or call me at (928) 523-5833 with any questions.
Information and a registration form can be found at this website:
