Seattle Symphony with Sir Mix-A-Lot

This was mentioned in Time magazine..... should be an interesting show to say the least. Wonder how classical musicians will interpret something like "Baby Got Back"?

Difficult to define or even appreciate for some, but there's something to be said for him. Even the most devoted and focused classical musicians of recent generations can recite lines from Baby Got Back.

Anthony Ray (Mix) is a more cultured person that prejudices might expect. He may drive a 'hooptie' but he knows quality when he hears it.

I don't think anyone's expressing prejudice here. One has to admit, though, that we don't often hear of a professional orchestra doing hip-hop. Therefore, it should be an interesting show.
Given recent posts about the Colorado orchestra's attempt to appeal to a younger audience, here:

I'd say this concert was concieved for the same reason.

Artistic endeavors such as this and the reconciliation of the ColoradoSO and the recreational cannabis crowd may seem like desperate measures, and they may well be, but negligible effort has been put into cultivating a younger orchestral audience beyond that of the very young (21 year olds don't have much interest in an instrument petting zoo, meet the players type deals.) We need to encourage new listeners at practically all costs. Let's hope that these efforts aren't too late to have much effect, or too polarizing to alienate the existing, largely elderly patrons.
Adherence to tradition is the provence of and up to the discretion of the performer. We shouldn't arbitrarily exclude a potential audience.

So, should the orchestra offer free swastikas to attract the potential neo-Nazi audience?

Not necessary. I think that the neo-Nazi audience is already present.

If I were close enough to attend, I would definitely go to this concert. If for nothing else, to see what Mix does other than his one big song.

Same here. Someone ought to to go and report back to the rest of us who are too far away- for example does Mix do "Sprung On The Cat" and/or "Put 'Em On The Glass"?
