New tuba solo at SERTEC

Post by T. J. Ricer »

Hello, All,

I will be premiering a new work for tuba and piano at SERTEC on Friday, March 25th, 2005 in Athens, GA. Doug Spata (who you may know through his educational orchestra works) has written us a nice Sonatina. I am scheduled to perform fourth on the student recital at 10 am. I hope to see many of you at conference; Dave Zerkel has worked hard to put this together for us.

Visit Doug Spata's page at:

I dunno, of the 10 or so coming down from Greensboro (that I know of) at least 6 of us have Easter gigs, and will go back on Sat. evening following the concert in plenty of time for the morning's activities. Most of our rehearsals are on Wed. night prior....

For all us euphonium players:

What is a "gig"? I keep hearing people who play other instruments talking about these!

Yo, T.J.,
Knock it out, man. Wish I could be down there to hear it. I think I'd have to take out a bank loan to buy enough gas to get my van down there.....Anyway, I'm sure you'll do a great job. Be sure to get a good recording!
