We must be doing something right, 'cause our friends at the Columbia (MD) Concert Band are hosting this again, and Dr. Harlan Parker of Peabody will return as conductor!

Come on out and hear us Sunday, July 26, 3:00 PM at Centennial High School, 4300 Centennial Lane, Ellicott City, MD 21042. This is between Baltimore National Pike (US 40) and Clarksville Pike (MD 108), west of downtown Ellicott City, and north of Columbia- conveniently accessible to everyone in the Baltimore, Annapolis, Frederick and Washington, DC metro areas.

Admission is free.

Program list (not necessarily in order):

Folk Song Suite for Military Band- Ralph Vaughan Williams

Four Scottish Dances- Malcolm Arnold, arr John P. Paynter

George Washington Bridge- William Schumann

Illyrian Dances- Guy Woolfenden

(intermission)

Carmina Burana- Carl Orff, arr. John Krance

As of now, the band consists of 63 musicians, and there are three tubas- one Thor, one Jupiter 1284, and one Alexander.

Somehow I knew you'd be the first to ask that  :

Patrick FitzGerald (Principal), from the Maryland Community Band in College Park (Thor)

David Johns, from Potomac Concert Band in Cumberland (Jupiter 1284)

and me (Alexander)

Thanks! It's been about 7 years since I moved out of Baltimore, but clearly, I still know a lot of people down there. I wish they'd have had something like this when I was there. (Is there a full roster posted anywhere?)

Side note: Patrick and I went to college together... back when he was (gasp!) a clarinet major (and a damn good one, at that!).

Well, you can always come back and join a band

and if you can't do that, see if you can generate interest in the bands in your area. Hey, if Maryland can do it.........

I do have a roster but am not sure it's ready for public release.
