Arnold Jacobs Centennial events (4)

Post by Northern »

Hi Troops, In Chicago from Dec. 16 through 19, four events will occur celebrating the Centennial of Arnold Jacobs. Three will consist of panel discussions with those who worked with Arnold Jacobs in the capacities of students and colleagues. These will be hosted by WFMT program host, Carl Grapentine and professors Mike Grose and Daniel Perantoni. By opening the websites below you will see who the distinguished members of the panel are.

The first event which will be after the Chicago Symphony Brass concert on Wednesday evening, Dec. 16 at 8 PM.

[The following events all occur at McCormick Place, site of the Midwest Band and Orchestra Clinic]

The second event is on Thursday, Dec. 17 at noon: http://www.midwestclinic.org/2015_clini" target="_blank ... Grose.html" target="_blank
The third is Friday, Dec. 18 at noon: http://www.midwestclinic.org/2015_clini" target="_blank ... ntoni.html" target="_blank

The fourth event is on Saturday, Dec. 19 at 11:15 AM http://www.midwestclinic.org/midwest-cl" target="_blank ... pyear=2015" target="_blank . This web address gives an incomplete description of this event: The Vaughan Williams “Tuba Concerto” will be played by 3 tuba players from the Civic Orchestra of Chicago (David Nelson, Joe LeFevre and Jose Martinez), I will join them. We are splitting up the solo (as the CSO Horn section did with the Mozart at the Dale Clevenger Retirement concert several years ago). The Cadenzas will be performed by Arnold Jacobs from previously recorded performances.
An unfortunate coincidence is the TUBACHRISTMAS event occurring at nearly the same time at the Palmer House Hilton. It was an unavoidable conflict.
I hope you might take advantage of some of these activities concluding this Centennial year of Arnold Jacobs. Cheers, Gene Pokorny

Two questions:

1. Will any of this be broadcast (live or recorded for the future) on WFMT?

2. When is the beer drinking and sausage-eating scheduled? Can't imagine a commemorative TubaEvent without both.
