New ITEA Bobo & Phillips Awards

ITEA is pleased announce the establishment of both the ROGER BOBO Awards for Excellence in Recording, and the HARVEY G. PHILLIPS Awards for Excellence in Composition.

These awards were established by ITEA to foster, encourage, and recognize new recordings and compositions for the tuba and euphonium of the highest distinction.

Catagories in the Bobo Awards for Recording will be:

1. Solo Tuba-Classical
2. Solo Classical Euphonium
3. Jazz/Rock/Fusion Tuba (as featured instrument
4. Jazz/Rock/Fusion Euphonium (as featured instrument)
5. Chamber Music Tuba/Euphonium (Includes brass quintets, tuba-euph. quartets and other instrumental combinations that include the tuba or euphonium, or both.)

This first contest will consider new recordings released from January 1, 2004 through December 31, 2005.
Catagories for the Phillips Awards in Composition will be:

1. Solo Tuba Works (Accomp. or solo)
2. Solo Euphonium Works (Accomp. or Solo)
3. Solo Tuba in Chamber Music (featured in a Solo role)
4. Euphonium in Chamber Music (featured in a Solo role)
5. Solo Tuba in Jazz/Rock/Fusion Medium (featured in a solo role)
6. Solo Euphonium in Jazz/Rock/Fusion (featured in a solo role)

This first contest will consider nominations of original works completed during the dates of January 1, 2001 through Dece,ber 31, 2005.


OTHER CATAGORIES MAY BE ADDED IN FUTURE YEARS TO COVER OTHER MUSICAL MEDIUMS IN WHICH THE INSTRUMENT PLAYS AN IMPORTANT ROLE.
