On April 16th, the University Symphonic Wind Ensemble of Virginia Tech will perform Rodney Newton's "Capriccio" with VT tubist, Will Divers. According to both the composer and the arranger, Sgt. David Richards of the Central Band of the Royal Airforce, this will be the U.S. premier of the tuba and wind band arrangement.
Works by Khatchaturian, Colgrass, Persichetti, Camphouse, and Saint-Saens will also be performed. Admission is $5 to the general public but I can get as many comp tickets I need, so let me know if you want one.
