This was fantastic last year...I watched online.
I've known Ryan for a long time...since he was MUCH younger, had an EXTRAORDINARY mullet  and played 2nd trumpet in Memphis.
At a Christmas gig, he told me (a couple of days after he got the horrible news, and well before he put it out on facebook) that he had cancer, and that it is an INCURABLE type.

If you look up the youtube video of him stepping forward from his principal trumpet chair in the Dallas Symphony and reuniting with the Canadian Brass to play that solo from "Penny Lane" (as no one else can play it), he was in TERRIBLE pain when playing that (a few weeks before being diagnosed).

Ryan is...
- an amazing talent
- an amazing person
- an amazing make-lemonade-out-of-an-lemon person

Give a few (or many) bucks to "Cancer Blows", if you have a few (or many) to spare.

I consider Ryan a friend, but the first exposure I had to him was that was my daughter's church league basketball coach, WHILE he was going through his treatments. The only reason I even found out his true identity was because I Google his email address because something in it made me "think he might be some kind of musician" (insert shocked face here)

The man is humble, kind, giving, and one hell of a trumpet player. I consider myself blessed that I got to see the first cancer blows concert in person, and hate that I can't make it this year.

Out of all the trumpet players ever to play in the Canadian Brass, Ryan Anthony is my favorite. Such musicality. Ron Romm is of course pretty close :)

Cancer Blows will return to the Meyerson Symphony Center in Dallas in May of 2017 and will include many guest brass players, the Dallas Symphony Orchestra, and another guest ensemble or two (which shall remain a surprise). Keep an eye on Ryan's website for details and ticket information later this year after the Cleveland event is finished. It will be similar BUT NOT IDENTICAL to Cancer Blows 2015 in Dallas...if you loved that, make plans to be at the 2017 edition.

As for everything said about Ryan by Joe and others...I absolutely agree. I am blessed to work with him on a daily basis and produced the CB with DSO concert when Ryan played Penny Lane (read: I was there) and worked closely with him on the Cancer Blows concept. Please support the project if you're so inclined.
