Well it's not too early to ask now...so who's going? So far, I believe I'll be there.

Planning on going, the tentative line up of guests looks good The website includes Eventbrite registration, I imagine regiestering helps them justify the event.

I hope registering and bringing the ticket helps to get through security. They have tightened up security procedures for non-military personnel to get on base. They make you fill out a four-page form and you have to be approved. If there is an Army musician who can clarify this, it would be a real help.

Bear in mind they have an inauguration to deal with between now and then. We are fortunate to get this opportunity at all.

There is a typo on the schedule. The last two events are same time and place.

Yes. The Grand Concert would be at 7:30 pm just like the previous evening concerts.

Anyone who has been here before: Where is the best place to stay, considering ease of getting there, cost, etc.? :D
There seems to be a hotel on base but it may just be for military temporary housing?

There is everything from cheap to luxury within a few miles of the base. I tend to go cheap. I've used the Best Western Pentagon and the Americana Hotel. Of the 2, I would use the Americana again. This year I'm using the cheapest available: The Inn of Rosslyn.

I will be there again this year, located in the same corner as usual. I am working towards having two of my CC tubas finished to show at the exhibit, and will show whatever "For Sale" instruments that are still available for sale by then. I'm really surprised that no one has jumped on this Yamaha 861 CC yet. The limited play-condition shop will be there, so if something happens to your instrument in transit, or you just want a minor instrument issue or two addressed, my assistants and I will do our best to serve you.

I plan to have Schlipf practice mutes on hand, as well as a few Dennis Wick and Humes and Berg mutes. I have a variety of mouthpieces to offer from various makers, new and gently pre-owned. If there is some item that you are looking for, no matter how unusual or mundane, please do not hesitate to ask about it. If you'd like a free written estimate of repairs or restoration of an instrument or mouthpiece, bring it and I'll write it up. We will be selling Hetman synthetic lubricants as well. And, everything will be offered at Convention Special pricing.
I look forward to visiting with everyone who can make it to this Conference!

The Metro subway system is doing track work on the lines (Orange, Blue, and Silver) that use the Rosslyn station near Ft Myer that weekend. But, all the affected stations are inside DC, and Rosslyn and points west are unaffected.

Just an FYI.

Wessex tubas will be exhibiting with our biggest booth to date, so much have we to show! We plan to have at least the following;

BR144 4-valve compensated baritone (British style)
EP100 Dolce Euphonium (latest version with vented valves)
EP104 Festivo Front Action compensated euphonium
ER154 Maly Tornister/travel euphonium
HE29 Eb Helicon (prototype)
TB160 Mighty Midget Tornister/travel BBb tuba
TB550 Wisconsin 5/4 piston BBb tuba
TB575 Luzern 5/4 rotary BBb tuba (all gold brass example)
TB692 Grand 6/4 BBb tuba
TC161 Mighty Gnome Tornister/travel CC tuba
TC491 Anton 5/4 rotary CC tuba
TC590 Wyvern 5/4 piston CC tuba
TE495 Danube rotary Eb tuba
TF135 Bubbie 5 F/Eb travel tuba
TF435 Berg F tuba

One tuba that regretfully we will not have is the superb TE465 Gnagey Eb tuba, as have entirely sold out and have waiting list.

Here is some more info for the Tuba Workshop:

1. Access to JBM-HH has become more and more complicated the last couple of years. We don't have any control over the process, but here are some tips to speed up your access to the installation.

If you plan on attending, please pre-register here:

https://www.eventbrite.com/e/the-us-arm ... 0224728978" target="_blank

We will share this list with the Access Control group so that they have a list of people to expect. This might expedite your entry.

Also, there is a form you can fill out ahead of time that could allow you to speed up the process. You can get more details on that, as well as ID information on this page:

http://www.usarmyband.com/plan-your-vis ... ntrol.html" target="_blank

2. There is now a printable schedule on the site:

http://www.usarmyband.com/tuba/" target="_blank

Looking forward to seeing everyone!
