I attended this event. Having met Mr. Pokorny briefly in 1989, and witnessing his performance yesterday three things really impressed me, and none of them have anything to do with how talented and capable he is:

1. Longevity takes effort. He cared about every note he played yesterday and you could see/feel the effort he put behind it ... though it at times seems effortless.
2. The Chicago York CC really IS that cool up close.
3. He took time during his recital to honor people like Red Lehr (who was in attendance) and Tommy Johnson. Says so much about Mr. Pokorny.

Very grateful to the St. Louis Low Brass Collective for putting this event together and for creating all kinds of opportunities for Low Brass players all over. If you're not plugged into them, you should be!
