Graduate Assistantship opportunity

Post by Craig Knox »

The Hugh A. Glauser School of Music at Kent State University (OH) is seeking a Tuba Graduate Assistant beginning September 2004. This assistantship carries a full tuition waiver, as well as a half-stipend of $3,750 per year. There is no teaching involved for this student; the assistantship is for performing in the ensembles. In addition, it is possible for the student to apply for an additional administrative assistantship which could double the cash stipend to $7,500 per year, although that is dependent on availability. The assistantship is good for two years while the student pursues a Master of Music degree.

I was appointed Adjunct Professor of Tuba during this semester, and have a late start filling this position. However, there is still time to apply for this excellent opportunity. Because of the late date, I will consider recorded audition tapes in lieu of live audition. Information on the School of Music, the Tuba Assistantship, and the application process is available at the School of Music web site. Again, because of the late date, I recommend any interested students contact me directly by e-mail in order to expedite the audition and application process.

Please feel free to contact me with any questions regarding the School of Music at KSU or this Graduate Assistantship position.
