Buffet Crampon USA Tuba Euphonium Academy

Post by RJRobinson »

Dear Friends and Colleagues,

I wanted to introduce an exciting opportunity this summer. We are thrilled to announce the Buffet Crampon USA Tuba Euphonium Academy at Oklahoma City University! By bringing together Buffet Artists from four countries, we have designed a unique and intensive event that delivers an experience you won’t find anywhere else in the world. We hope you will apply for the opportunity to learn from our artists: Roland Szentpali, Tormod Flaten, Bastien Baumet, and Ryan Robinson.

Who is eligible to attend? The Academy is open to any student over the age of 18. The experience is tailored to individual needs: incoming undergraduate music majors will see as much benefit as post DMA young professionals.

What is included? The Academy is an all-inclusive event allowing participants to focus entirely on honing their skills without worrying about lodging, transportation, food, etc. The price of tuition covers all of the following:
[*]housing in one of OCU’s newest dormitories, featuring private bedrooms and bathrooms
[*]transportation to and from the airport (if applicable)
[*]breakfast, lunch, and dinner on site
[*]two private lessons with artists (one hour each)
[*]daily artist-led warm up sessions
[*]daily artist-led masterclasses
[*]daily artist-led professional development sessions
[*]constant access for play testing new Buffet Crampon USA instruments (B&S, Meinl Weston, Besson)
[*]flexible time - scheduled “free time” to allow for individual practice, chamber music, observing peer lessons, or time to relax
[*]evening concerts featuring the artists
[*]final culminating concert, featuring all participants

Where is the Academy? The Academy is hosted by Dr. Ryan Robinson, the tuba and euphonium professor at OCU’s Wanda L. Bass School of Music. Oklahoma City is conveniently situated in the middle of the country, crossed by multiple major interstate highways, and has an airport that features direct flights from most major cities. OCU is located in the heart of Oklahoma City and is close to all of the vibrant culture the city has to offer.

When? Selected participants should arrive on Sunday June 10th and leave on Sunday June 17th. Academy events will begin on June 11th and end the evening of June 16th.

How do I apply? Please visit the website https://www.bcusatubaeuphacademy.com for more information and official application. Like our event on Facebook at https://www.facebook.com/TubaEuphAcademy/ and follow us on Twitter at https://twitter.com/TubaEuphAcademy.

Please do not hesitate to reach out to me if you have any questions. We hope to see you in June!

All the best,

Ryan Robinson, DMA

There are only two days left to apply for the academy if you want to be considered for scholarships! I can't wait to see all of the talented tuba and euphonium players that visit these fantastic artists later this year for a week of absolutely fantastic instruction!
