John Van Houten in Chicago

Hollywood tuba recording artist and teacher, John Van Houten, will present a short workshop on Wednesday, October 17, 2018, at 7:30 PM in the Master Class Room (MCR) of the Regenstein Building on campus at the Northwestern University's Beinen School of Music, 70 Arts Circle Drive in Evanston, Illinois. The workshop/presentation will demonstrate approaches to playing in the low register and other aspects of playing he learned from his major teacher, Tommy Johnson.
Tommy Johnson passed away almost exactly twelve years ago.
Following Mr. Van Houten's presentation, the evening will continue with Northwestern University tuba and euphonium students playing mostly etudes in a masterclass setting until shortly after 9 PM. All are welcome. Admission is free.
