Long Island Low Brass: 39th Annual Day of Tuba and Euphonium

Post by LISherm »

It’s time for the Suffolk County (NY) Music Educators Association's 39th Annual Day of Tuba and Euphonium on Friday, November 2 at Central Islip High School.

This year’s guest artist is Euphonium Rockstar Lauren Veronie Curran of the US Army Field Band. In addition to presenting an afternoon clinic and leading performances by the All-County High School Tuba-Euphonium Ensemble and Faculty Ensemble, Lauren will perform a solo recital as part of the gala evening concert.

200-300 High School, Middle School and Elementary School participants are expected, plus plenty of teachers, professionals and casual adult players.

Rehearsals and clinics begin at 3:30 pm.
The free concert begins at 6:45 pm featuring Sunnyland Jazz Band featuring John Klumpp, Art Hovey and Bob Hovey http://sunnylandjazz.com/; Lauren Veronie Curran in recital; Long Island Tuba Quartet with Kevin Mecchella, Don Sherman, Jeff Furman, and Zach deVries plus guests Eric Gottesman and Tim Eckstrum http://longislandtubaquartet.com/, High School All-County Ensemble, a Faculty Ensemble and the Massed Ensemble Finale.

Matt Walters will be there from Dillon Music with a display, and the famous door prize raffle will feature all kinds of amazing merchandise.
