Recitals in Chicago

Post by akshatjain »

Hi tuba gang,

Writing to inform of two recitals that I'm putting on in early March around the Chicago area!

March 7th, 5:30 pm at Curtiss Hall (Fine Arts Building in the Loop)
- This recital will feature unaccompanied works for tuba, old and new, in addition to the Vivaldi Concerto in D Minor for two violins arranged for tuba played by Will Russell and myself from Boston Brass.

We'll end the recital with some tuba quartets featuring other local Chicago tuba players.

March 10th, 7:30 pm in Foreman Hall at Merit School of Music
- This recital is half geared towards HS students and demonstrating the appropriate repertoire that they should be looking to perform. The other half will include the unaccompanied works from the March 7th recital, some new works for tuba/piano, and some chamber works featuring brass quintet. These works include Bach, John Stevens, and a fantastic new piece I commissioned by Jonathan Hannau, a local Chicago composer.

Both events are open to the public! I'd love to see you there if you are able to come,
