Post by Northern »

7/17/2021
Hello Troops,
A tuba recital will be given by Gene Pokorny, tubist, along with pianist, Yoko Yamada Selvaggio, and guest tubist, Kevin Harrison, on Tuesday, July 20, 2021, at the Park Plaza Retirement Center, 6840 Sacramento Avenue, Chicago, 60645. The recital begins at 6:30 PM. Works include music by Gerald Finzi, Johann Sebastian Bach, Micky Wrobleski and James Stephenson.
This gratis recital is being given as an appreciation to the Park Plaza Retirement Center for their continued support of the Chicago Symphony Orchestra. This concert was arranged by Sarah Van Der Ploeg, the coordinator for school and community partnerships for the Chicago Symphony Orchestra Association’s Negaunee Music Institute.
Members of the public wishing to attend this recital are reminded that the performers and the audience are guests in their facility.
To that end, please be aware that because of the median age and increased activity of the variants in the on-going struggle with the pandemic, masks are required. You should also be prepared to show your COVID-19 Vaccination Record Card.
Please pass along this information to any who might have an interest. If you have students, please pass this information along to them.
Apologies to those inadvertently left off the address list
This recital is given in preparation for performances to be given at the Pokorny Low Brass Seminar which this year premieres from July 22-25, 2021, at Northern Illinois University in DeKalb, Illinois. Classes and other recitals will be given at this seminar by spectacular musicians from the Atlanta Symphony, the Dallas Symphony, the Boston Symphony, the Cleveland Orchestra, the Chicago Lyric Opera, the Milwaukee Symphony and notable teaching institutions. For more information, please see https://www.niu.edu/music/programs/pokorny.shtml.

Cheers,
Gene Pokorny
