Give me advice on how to make things better

WTB

Postby bloke » Thu Jun 13, 2019 7:03 pm

How about phasing out the WTB forum (perhaps allowing only posts to existing threads (??) and combining it back with For Sale?

I believe people know how to begin the title of a post with "WTB".

Does WTB receive much traffic?

I'm thinking you folks were trying to condense to fewer forums...yes?

Can we replace it with a WTF forum?

yeah, I've thought about that. Seems like half the threads we move are WTB threads that someone put in the for sale, either accidentally or on purpose

Anyone have any objections to changing it back the way it used to be?

How about just calling it, Marketplace, like FB does?

Combining the two would likely mean that WTB's would slide down to page 2 or more before many would even know it had been posted. I prefer "leave it as it is".

More important would be to get the indexing fixed so the repair and media forums are back as they were, separate to FAQ.

People "bump" their own for-sale ads so friggin' often (hourly?) that un-bumped for-sale ads end up on p. 2 in a couple of hours anyway.

My saving graces are that that people actually like the pictures of the stuff that I offer for sale, and that it usually sells before it hits p. 2.

That could be a third forum for those instrument-resembling objects FS, TT, etc.

Wessex BR115 & B&H 3-valve comp w/ Wick Ultra SMB6

We can call it MarketPlace. Not a problem. Here we go.

I won't be surprised if down the track there is a call to separate for sale and wanted to buy - it happened before - which is how we got to the present set up.

true. I think one of the reasons we did that was the thinking that it would make it easier to impose some restrictions on new sellers, but still allowing newbies to post in the WTB forum, which of course is fine.

So, why change things: simply because 1 person "who rarely clicks on WTB" wants to exert some influence?

I wasn't in favor of making the change, but I wanted to hear other's opinions. Farah obviously thought it worked better having the forums combined,so the change was made. I could argue both sides of it.

When I suggested calling it, Marketplace, I was thinking that WTB would be included there. Even if it's a link at the top, like Off Site Deals and Ads, I was thinking that any buy and sell should be listed under Marketplace.
