Getting Logged Off

Postby the elephant » Thu Dec 01, 2011 12:14 pm

I do not generally post in the Feedback Forum. I have chimed in on other's threads here at times. But this is a new problem for me that may be on my end.

I have recently switched from BellSouth DSL to CableOne high speed. (Thanks to the MIL.)

Using my iMac on OS X 10.7 Lion I am getting bumped off the board between writing and clicking Submit, freezing the page in mid-posting. The only way to unfreeze when this happens is to close the tab. Everything else works fine, including TubeNet in another tab, but I am not logged in in the new one. Safari works fine. The computer works fine. By closing the tab I lose whatever I have tried to post. POOF...

I am not noticing this on my MacBook Air on the same version of the OS and Safari via the same wireless connection to the same account. I cannot duplicate this as it is an uncommon occurrence, but it is becoming more frequent.

This does not happen on my phones, my Linux boxes or my older Mac in 10.6 Snow Leopard. It seems to just be the new computer that the MIL gave my wife. It this possibly a cookies thing or some setting that I can toggle? All the networking setting seem to be the same on the iMac and the MacBook Air. All the software is the same.

Any ideas?

I lost two very long business letters that I was sending to board members and I am a typing idiot who clicks and clunks very slowly, so this was like two hours of typing that was lost just yesterday.

Also, now this computer will NOT stay logged into TubeNet for more than one visit. It is getting worse. And it is just this computer, I think. If I click a link to a post and then go back the the Index page I am no longer logged in. Again, this is not happening on any of our other devices that I am noticing.

Does it have something to do with CableOne, maybe?

Just curious...

Not that it's a great solution long-term, but short-term, I'd suggest selecting and copying your entire message before clicking "Submit." That way, even if you get loggest out, you can just log back in and paste your message.

I know it sucks, used to happen at work with Web mail all the time. VERY annoying.

Also, typing in a Word/Text document first, then pasting into the box and submitting is another option. Still a workaround and not a fix, but could help to not lose work for the big stuff!

If I think of that I do it. But these were responses to PMs that I just jumped into. Also, one time it did that and I had not yet clicked Submit. Weird. I have gremlins, it seems...
