Lurker, Bugler, 3 valves etc...

Post by tylerferris1213 »

Just out of curiosity, what are the parameters of each category here on Tubenet? "Sponsor" and "Professional" seem fairly obvious. How does someone move between from a lurker to a bugler to 3 valves and so on?

It's all about quantity, not at all about quality.

I got curious so I figured it out:
10 posts bumps you from lurker to bugler - memberlist.php?sk=d&sd=d&start=2205
250 posts is the jump from bugler to 3 valves - memberlist.php?sk=d&sd=d&start=315
500 posts is the jump from 3 to 4 valves - memberlist.php?sk=d&sd=d&start=140
1000 posts goes from 4 to 5 valves - memberlist.php?sk=d&sd=d&start=70
Finally, over 2000 posts (or being the site owner/admin) gets 6 valves - memberlist.php?sk=d&sd=d&start=35

I'm still not sure who you have to impress to get the 'resident genius' status that Rick has - memberlist.php?mode=viewprofile&u=435

Sean needs to add a few more categories:

- nincompoop
- annoyance
- fool

.... Just to name a few. Can you think of more that might be appropriate?

Ah, the vagaries of arbitrary labels. It reminds me of the artificial names given to fund raising benefactors: member, supporting member, foundational member, sustaining member, etc., depending on how much money has been given, attempting to forge a status symbol as to label how many "0's" are to the right of the integer but left of the decimal point.

That said, wasn't it Jake who said something to the effect that we all play only three valves at a time?
